🌾 Wellness Wednesday: Fibre – The Forgotten Nutrient
We hear a lot about protein, carbs and fats… but there’s another important part of our diet that often gets overlooked: fibre.
Fibre isn’t just about keeping your digestion regular. Getting enough can support your gut health, help you feel fuller for longer, and contribute to healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
The good news? You don’t need anything complicated or expensive. Fibre is found in everyday foods like:
🥦 Fruit and vegetables
🌾 Wholegrain bread, pasta and cereals
🫘 Beans, lentils and pulses
🥜 Nuts and seeds
🥔 Potatoes with their skins on
In the UK, adults are advised to aim for around 30g of fibre a day, but many of us don’t reach that amount.
One simple approach is to gradually add more plants and wholegrains to the meals you already enjoy — and remember to drink plenty of water as you increase your fibre intake.
✨ Good nutrition isn’t always about what you need to cut out. Sometimes it’s about what you need to add in.
👉 This week, take a look at your plate and ask yourself: “Where’s my fibre?”
