Exercising when you’re ill

Normally when you’ve got a cold or generally feel run down and unwell, the last thing we want to do is go running or otherwise train, we’d rather snuggle up and rest. However, the general recommendation is that if you feel pain or sickness anywhere other than from the neck down then you shouldn’t train. Which means if you’ve got a stuffy nose, slight headache or sore throat you can still train but it would probably be best to take it slightly easier, this will ensure your body doesn’t use all its energy recovering your muscles from the workout but still aids in the recovery from the illness.
